October Farm Update 2024

Chickens

We had a lot of excitement with our new incubators! We successfully hatched some healthy chicks, with a great fertility rate. Our girls loved watching them hatch and monitored the process closely. As we get more comfortable with this setup, we’re aiming to improve our hatch rate even more in the next few rounds.

Sheep

Our sheep kept us on our toes this month! After they put a few holes in our fence, we moved them into the grass lot. Unfortunately, we lost four to what we suspect was a dog. Since then, we’ve patched the fence, strung some hotwire, and now make sure they spend the night with the horses or in the backyard.

Loss and new life are part of farm life, but we’re so grateful to be able to do it in this great country.

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9
